Two nights in a tent,
11th-13th June, 2007

I didn't go to Spain as intended, so headed off to sunny Dorset with Mia. We chose this area because it looked like the least likely to rain...and we were right!!
Here I am, checking a suitable spot to park my ass!
We drove to Sandbanks, but ground down by traffic decided to continue and take the ferry over towards Studland and eventually Swanage....On the way we noticed there was a naturist beach, it would have been rude not to pay it a visit! Unfortunately, by the time we got there it wasn't that warm!

BIG FAT ASS!!

HOT PIECE OF ASS!!

So, having sampled the delights of the beach and lots of naked "older" people we headed off to pitch a tent in the general direction of Swanage. The MG, despite Mia's claims to the contrary, is able to carry a tent and enough supplies for two people
So, tent set up we walked(cue complaints from certain quarters!) into Swanage to find somewhere to eat. What of the place? Well, suffice to say, only a sunset picture like this can make it look good. It's a typical English seaside dump. Why can't we have coastal towns like the French, Spanish, Italians or anyone else for that matter? Amusement arcades and fish and chip shops everywhere just don't cut it in this day and age....

CORFE CASTLE

A DAY IN THE STOCKS TROUBLESOME WENCH!!

We went to this model village place which wasn't that exciting, but I did get the chance to punish Mia for doing my head in, by putting her in the stocks! We also got to play a little croquet on the lawn!

After Corfe we went back to the coast again and walked out to "Old Harry's Rocks." Pretty stunning scenery.
A bracing walk out along the headland...and bracing views all around. The weather was scorching, so we decided to go back to the beach and typically, by the time we got there the weather had changed and there were no rays to be had.

The next destination was a campsite near "Durdle Door" via the deserted village of Tyneham. The drive was through army ranges with red flags flying everywhere. At one point we even saw tanks in the distance, but on closer inspection could see that they were in fact targets! When we reached the turn off for Tyneham, the road was closed...

So, we survived getting shot at and checked into this huge caravan,/camping park. The office was closed so we pitched up and discovered we were right next to the beach car park. The next day we just drove into the car park and avoided paying...yeah!!

Again, spectacular views spoiled only by the hordes of schoolkids who should have been locked up in a classroom doing complex algebra if you ask me. We walked along the coast to Lulworth cove which was quite a challenge. the weather was warm so i was forced to strip down at one point!

LULWORTH COVE

Arriving in Lulworth we checked out the cove...very nice. Then into the jumble of shops leading out. Same old seaside crap again, low end shops and cafe's. Having said that however, the omelette we had was one of the finest known to mankind!!

A nice display of beach equipment.
We were going to stay another night, but it started to rain and by the time we reached Dorchester it was chucking it down. Camping no longer seemed such a fun idea! We had arrived to check out the "Teddy Bear Museum" but luckily for me Mia decided it was too expensive so we didn't go in...
Anyway, a great time was had and despite a sore back, I think that camping is, in fact a lot of fun!!
