So, it was like this. Tania and her sister Lisa's dad is from Roseta so it's a regular trip home for the family. Nick, Paul and myself were along for the ride!! The morning we arrived it was straight down to the beach after a hairy drive from the airport courtesy of Richard(Lisa's husband)...
When we got there the beach was deserted despite the superb weather. It was of course September and Italians don't go on holiday in September......

The day's revolved around eating and drinking...so back in the hotel was no different. I really got into Italian TV because all the presenters were babes!!

Roll the mouse over to see me dance!!

Very similar to Spain in that people love hanging around in coffee shops watching the people go by....and Italian girls were definitely worth watching!!

One day was set aside for a trip to the mountains to see a traditional village, the Italian "penines" and a ski lodge where Mussolini was kept prisoner for a time...

We were just shy of the summit and with a bit of Aqua Mineral poured into the radiator the car made it. Ate a superb meal in this red block building where Mussolini was apparently imprisoned in 1943 and then headed down again....
I was a bit disappointed having expected a bit of a hike somewhere along the line. We had literally driven for hours to get up to the "Campo Imperatore" and now we were driving all the way back again. |
|
we had driven just far enough away to be in the middle of a desolate plain, when we broke down once more...

There were various messages written in rocks around the place and seeing as we had time to kill......Ronaldo and Richard had gone looking for water.....I set about leaving a shrine to the Royals which might one day get noticed as a memorial to us if we didn't make it!!

|
Needless to say, once a suitable quantity of water was found (from a sheep trough I think!) we made it home safe and sound...but time was almost up...
|
And that, as they say, was that!!
