Cruised on down in the Skellymobile for the annual party in Kending. The dudes were ready for a little Rock n' roll....
After an overnight trip down to the far south of Taiwan it was only right to kick off the tour with a visit to McDonalds.......as we arrived in Kending, so were the backpackers
The accomodation is always crap and expensive but we found somewhere quick enough....which was suprising considering how many people were streaming in......first stop Margaritas in Amy's
Now, naughty Mr Skelly was making his first trip to the scream and being something of a musical snob was not exactly looking forward to hearing some of the bands on show....here we see a video of him being miserable and trying to bring the place down.
The festival site is up in the hills and it gets a wee bit chilly and windy there....plus it's a bloody long walk.....but on the right side walking in is this big mysterious rock that noone is allowed to climb....
So, 750nt lighter we entered the site...a little early as you can see from the sparse crowd. But this year they seem to have got it sorted a bit more. Four stages AND more importantly, lots of places to buy beer!!
This was where you could buy "band gear" and where I purchased a Greassy Spoon DVD....the band playing at the time weren't that hot as you can see from the guy covering his ears!!
And who did we bump into but this little group of rock chicks. The are a band called C Major who were playing the next day at 1pm.......er......unfortunately didn't get to see them
An African drummer band who were pretty crap actually.....though that didn't stop dozens of western girls getting up on stage to dance with them!!
And there was Venus, ex-Heineken girl and friend of ours from a few years back.....Yoko Ono like she now plays in her husbands band

Chick band Hard rockin' early evening girl band who's lead singer had some real attitude
Freaky Japanese band Hard core but professional Jap band
Milk Western band who've been around for years....much tighter set this time around
Crazy Japanese band Young Jap rockers who got the crowd going
Greassy spoon Top entertainment with these Tokyo rockers
Mojo One of the best Chinese acts...Rockabilly band popular with the crowd

Late saturday night after the show was over the hordes were out in Kending and more than 30,000 went to the rave.....my friends were tired and needed their beds though. Poor mites, they're getting old!!
